RE: Trip to Slant Rock Isle - Darby - 03-23-2016 For the extra half hour, Darby checked his equipment once again, and thought about previous times he fought enemies larger than a horse. The odds of finding useful intel were low, but the odds of being prepared for anything are 100%. RE: Trip to Slant Rock Isle - Lilly Mato - 03-25-2016 For her part Lilly made her way to the outskirts of the market, wandering around and intentionally looking a little bit lost. Where as Kage was courting information from a large number of sources Lilly was trying to bait a couple of loose tongues. It usually didn't take long to lure in the type of man that wanted to prove himself by what he knew. If necessary she could always give them a little push with her fey heritage. RE: Trip to Slant Rock Isle - Magikeeper - 03-29-2016 Kage Kage had learned fairly early on that the village periodically traded with a group of shifters, mostly of the cananine variety, that lived on the other side of the bay. There was talk that the hound traders (it seemed to be a friendly nickname) would normally have arrived by now. The talk of the town was a growing concern that they'd been captured by pirates or eaten by the island's dragon. Others considered the whole thing a boat of hysteria - it wasn't that late in the season, and if the hounds had the same hysteria going on maybe they just hadn't SENT a trader group in the first place! Kage also learned that the number of fish in the area had drastically fallen - again, the dragon was blamed, although some suspected foul play of a less scaly sort. In more pleasant news, the winter crop had been quite plentiful this year. Fresh kale, spinach, and much more was currently available to be had in soups and salads. The quiche was particularly delightful. Tactically, Kage didn't learn much Dalton hadn't already told him. He could probably try to recruit some of the angrier youths into joining the scouting party, but Kaia didn't think.. that would be a great idea. --- Darby and Castor The final checks certainly helped insure everything would go smoothly, if only by making Dalton feel more comfortable about the west cliff plan. The general design choices of Dalton's boat were interesting - armored boats were not a common sight and Castor surely learned a thing or two about how they're put together. Mayhap that'd prove useful someday. ---- Lily The half-fey initially had no luck - most of the young men were currently hard at work. A few tried to amble over to her anyway, of course, but were generally pulled away. A few others did better, but knew nothing beyond the talk of the town. One of them managed to give her flowers though, they smelled pretty nice... Near the end of the excursion her luring attempts snatched more substantial prey - Gavron, a youthful, big-chinned and barrel-chested fellow that seemed to be exactly the sort of man she was looking for. He boasted about his many trips to the nearby island and was more than happy to tell her anything she wanted to know about the area. The man clearly liked to.. exaggerate.. but there did appear to be truth in his words. RE: Trip to Slant Rock Isle - Castor Phecda - 03-29-2016 He looked up from his checks as the others began to trickle back. The one who had introduced himself as Darby had stayed behind as well, but Castor hadn't had a good opportunity to start a conversation, being a fair distance away for most of the half hour. As the first of the others returned to the ship, where he was, he stood up and brushed off his jacket from leaning over the boat. "Find out anything useful?" He asked. He hadn't been interested in seeking out this information himself. But he was curious if there was any information to be found. RE: Trip to Slant Rock Isle - Kage - 03-30-2016 Kage came strolling back to the ship munching on some of the harvest foods he got. At Cator's question he gave a so so shake of his head as he finished swallowing. "Seems that either their merchant friends are equally scared of the situation, or has been eaten. The waters have less fish, and some blame the island dragon. So apparently they at least believe there may be a dragon. In other news, these quiche are great. Want some?" He asked holding one out to the guy. RE: Trip to Slant Rock Isle - Castor Phecda - 03-30-2016 He eyed the quiche, giving it a satisfying nod. "Thank you." He said, accepting the small pie-shaped serving of egg. He didn't know what else was in it but he took a bite readily. He tended to like every type of food, especially when it was free. But in the back of his mind he noted the shifter's generosity. "I didn't catch your name at our first meeting." He said, food still in his mouth. He knew this individual to be the first to greet him upon his arrival to the warehouse. He was also the one who had chased down Dalton's boat and killed the young man onboard. He wasn't sure how he felt about that but this wasn't really the time to have an opinion, especially not since he hadn't actually seen what happened on the ship. They were also about to work together and that ruthlessness, if that's what it was, could yet help them. "My original worries over Pirates are becoming smaller and smaller as evidence mounts in favor of our ship never reaching that island." He said with a morbid sarcasm, taking another bite of the quiche. RE: Trip to Slant Rock Isle - Kage - 03-31-2016 Kage watched as the guy ate the food. They really were tasty. "Kage. And I'm sure pirates are still involved somehow. We just need to confirm their presence and we get paid." He hadn't lost focus on the actual goal. Getting paid for work. RE: Trip to Slant Rock Isle - Lilly Mato - 04-02-2016 Lilly was rather good at playing the innocent girl, which seemed like it might be useful in this situation. "Some of my friends are thinking of heading somewhere nearby. They're a bit jumpy but won't talk to me about it... are the waters around here dangerous?" she asked as she toyed with her hair. RE: Trip to Slant Rock Isle - Magikeeper - 04-10-2016 Gavron tosses back his shoulders for a laugh matching his seemingly endless confidence. "HAH! Nothing I couldn't handle! It can get a bit tricky, particularly if you're aiming for the western cliffs of the island - prime hunting spot for drasil these past few months, I can show you the feathers if you're interested - but they should be fine if they have someone capable at the helm. If you're worried I'd be happy to tag along, Ms..." He waves a hand - he hadn't yet heard her name, as it were. RE: Trip to Slant Rock Isle - Lilly Mato - 04-10-2016 Lilly forced her eyes to widen a little in what she hoped looked like awe when Gavron mentioned the creature around the cliffs. "Lillith... you really have drasil feathers? I'd love to see them, Gavron." Lilly caught his hand as he waved it around, rubbing one palm gently as she asked. |
