Appearance & Apparel – Kage is a pure dusky black Jaguar, and has the look of a full panther on two legs when he is in his shifter form. His bodysuit is typically in the pattern of his own fur. He is rather slender, and stands 5’7”. In his Human form, he is a white guy with black hair and eyes that are a swirl of black and silver.
Personality – Smooth talking, fast walking, thief. Always after a good challenge.
Background– Kage is a thief for the sake of being a thief. He never grew up wanting much, and got bored with the life he had. He turned towards crime not because it was a good idea, but because it posed a challenge to him. Now he goes around doing things just to see if he can do them. Surprisingly, he has never been successfully caught by those that would seek to imprison him. And since starting his journey, he has made many friends and learned of his talents for magic. Choosing to be less of a thief and more of an adventurer, he set out from his homeland to see what he could make of the world.

Umbral Soul:
You gain the following Leveled Talent: Visionary. Your level in this talent is equal to the highest level umbral spell you know.
Whenever you use your spell per post to cast an umbral spell, you may simultaneously cast that spell twice instead. For example, you could cast blind on two different targets. Any other restrictions, like needed summon slots, do not change (you do not gain the ability to maintain more summons).
It takes far less effort than normal for you to learn umbral magic - you need only spend 30g per spell level to learn new umbral spells.
You can learn the highest level spells (8+) of the umbral art.


True Mage:

You can learn primal magic, the art of raw force and direct manipulation of magic. Primal magic spells cost 30g per spell level to learn.
You automatically learn the Minor Telekinesis and Shield spells.
You can learn the highest level spells (8+) of every art.
Chose a single non-primal magic art.This art is your "focus".
Whenever you learn a 2nd level or higher spell of your focus art, you can learn any lower level primal spell for free (e.g., if your focus is Fire and you buy a level 3 fire spell you can learn a level 2 primal spell for free)
Once per post, you can cast a 2nd level or lower Primal spell without it counting against your spell per post (For example, you could cast shield and another spell in the same post).

Talents:

True Mage Focus Art: Umbral

Visionary - When you look into the abyss, nothing can hide.
Lvl 0. You were born with unusual eyes, mixtures of black, silver, and white whose pattern reflects whatever visionary abilities you are currently using (specifics vary from person to person). With focus, you can see magic as though it were a faintly glowing lightsource.
Lvl 1. Your eyes can filter light, allowing you to selectively ignore some sources and/or types of light but not others in order to overcome blinding glares, notice distant fire in broad daylight, change what colors you can see, etc.
Lvl 2. Your eyes passively manipulate the light that reaches them, granting you adjustable telescopic vision. You also gain the ability to see ultraviolet light.
Lvl 3. You gain the ability to perfectly memorize anything you see, and can share these images with others in place of a spell per post by staring into their eyes for a few moments (they can resist this effect after the first instant).
Lvl 4. Your mastery of vision improves, granting you adjustable microscopic vision and allowing you to roughly see into objects / creatures within 5’ after a minute or so of focus (like a blurry use of X-Ray vision). Note: You would have perfect X-Ray vision if a strong source of them was present – but real life X-Ray machines rely on creating their own rays for a reason.
Lvl 5. You can interpret light before it reaches your eyes, allowing you to effectively “See” as though you were standing anywhere within 50’ of yourself (but only from one location at a time).
Lvl 6. You develop a custom form of vision or a vision-related ability (Staff approved)
Lvl 7. Once per encounter you may vastly increase the speed of your thoughts, effectively allowing you to see the world as though it were moving in slow motion for one post. This ability doesn’t let you move faster, merely think faster.
Lvl 8. You develop another custom form of vision or vision-related ability (Staff approved)
Lvl 9. You can “see” in all directions simultaneously, and you can perform up to two additional visual tasks without impacting your concentration (so you could carefully watch a distant enemy, read a newspaper, and fight a different enemy at the same time).
Lvl 10.You gain a custom ability based on your personality, your Visionary abilities, and Umbral magic.

Watch Over the Void
With Shaded Eye - At the cost of a spell, Kage can hide away one of his eyes in an umbral sheath that summons to his hand an eye of solid shadow. The shadow acts in all ways as if it were Kage's own eye, utilizing his abilities and allowing him to see, save that it has complete rotation. Counts as a summon.
With Faded Eye - Kage can will one of his eyes, shaded or otherwise, to fade from existence. Doing so makes the eye transparent and allows it to see void spaces, dimensional gateways and tears in reality. They usually appear as grey amorphous sacks, overlaid onto other physical objects.
A Fair Hand - Kage's hands can guide items in and out of his own personal void, disappearing into nothingness when they do so. Any non-living thing he can hold or maneuver with one hand can be stored in a magical stasis, organized by his will.
A Firm Hand - Once per encounter, while using the Faded Eye, Kage can momentarily drive his hand into a void space, gateway or tear in reality. He can use this ability to deposit an item or grab something at random. [Exact effects determined by mod.]


Lockpicking - Using tools to pick through locks.
Lvl 1. Trained in the use of lockpicks.


Weapons
All items are stored in void space unless in active use.
Magical Weapons
  • Blade of Sacramental Skies (B.O.S.S.) – A black Eternal Ice kila dagger with a dark navy crystalline grip. The dagger's blade is unusual in that it is both 6" long and four-edged instead of the three.

    Ritual Shroud - The blade can shroud itself with a black cloudy aura that forms a multitude of tiny swirling vortexes of darkness within an inch of it. The vortexes obscure light that passes through them, effectively blurring vision. The swirls linger for a post or until willed otherwise, making it possible to leave trails of innumerable little vortexes with each swing.

    Flip of the Four Deadly Priests - The dagger's edges can be willed to open like a flower, tearing through anything in their way with Strong strength. The opening blades then proceed to lean against the hilt, sliding forward and flowing together in a drill-like motion as the blade regains its former shape.

    Lashing of the Master's Tongue - The blade can be willed to detach from the hilt, remaining connected by an Eternal Ice chain that can be flowed into and out of the hilt to a maximum length of 3'. Willing the chain to completely flow back into the hilt reconnects the blade, as though it and the hilt were a single solid whole. Detaching the blade is not forceful, I.E. it doesn't shoot out like a gun, although swinging it while detaching it will obviously have an effect.

    Faithless Butterfly - The hilt's ornamentation reflects the antithesis of the religious beliefs of the last sapient creature whose living heart was torn asunder by the dagger's blade. Currently depicts lunar imagery combined with people and beasts of all shapes and sizes holding hands and happily dancing about.

    Runes: Haunted
    Haunted Spirit: The soul of Kaia Alliel resides within the blade. Her presence also grants the weapon the following ability:

    Rogue Nebula: Kaia may will a small cloud of smoke to seethe forth from the dagger. This smoke, a dark nebula of blacks, purples, and blues, quickly dissipates; leaving behind a solid, smoke-clothed fairy of hardened nebula. The 8" tall summon is completely controlled by Kaia, she can feel through it, talk, fly, etc, and has Weak strength. The summon dissipates if it moves more than 10' from the blade, or if it is dealt a "mortal" wound. Kaia can't use this ability again for 5 posts if the summon is forcefully dispersed in such a manner. The summon gains an additional (staff approved) ability for each rune added to the B.O.S.S. Note: The summon basically looks like a dream sprite, but this is only superficial. [Bonus Minors]

    Build a Snowman - A gift from a wintry fey in exchange for a small amount of something interesting. Kaia has been granted the ability, once summoned, to shatter the blade of shrouded skies, transforming it into compacted snow. Kaia is able to leach water magic from whoever she travels most with to fuel this power.

    - 0 - When Kaia shatters the blade it reforms as a featureless child formed from packed snow. The creature has weak strength and can last up to an hour in warm environments. It always listens to Kaia's commands, following to the best of its simple intelligence. When the snowman melts or is destroyed, the blade reforms in a puddle.
    - 1 - With a little water magic, the compacted snow form can keep any one of the original blade's abilities in this animate form. A new ability can be chosen each time it forms.
    - 2 - The snowman becomes a little pink and gains the strength of the last humanoid creature cut with the blade. This strength persists across creations and resets only when the blade draws more blood.

  • The Wanderers Suit
    This suit consists of a hat, gloves, shirt, coat, boots, and pants. When all parts are worn, the user may change the design and makeup of the individual pieces as they desire. They can be made to be weather appropriate. When not all parts are worn, they resemble a set of beige colored clothing of average quality. [Custom Dreamer rune that encompasses multiple articles instead of one. Paid 75gp]

  • Kaia Alliel's Backstory (imbued into the B.O.S.S. sword).
    The youngest of five, Kaia grew up poor and with little guidance. She hated it. She hated everything. She hated being so.. ignorable..so..unimportant. She would often go to the unmarked graves and glare at them under the light of the falling sun. Graves that belonged to people easily forgotten. She wasn't going to be one of them. She just couldn't.


    As the girl entered womanhood her ambition only grew, until at the age of 19 let a rather suave young man convince her that she should join him and his friends on an adventure. The group had found the entrance to the trials in a half-submerged cavern facing the seas, the men having managed to learn just enough about it to dream. A book of knowledge! Whatever they wanted to ask!


    The fools – and most of them were fools – took the first challenge as a celebratory prelude to their good fortune. Over half died in less than a minute. The others soon followed; only Kaia and the ringleader responsible for the fiasco had the wits and skills to make any headway in the tests. Although the book doesn't say exactly what happened in the end (the histories rarely do), its heavily implied she was simply overwhelmed in the dead city room. Her death was quick but far from painless.

Spells

Umbral:

LEVEL 1
Lantern - Create a floating ball of light before yourself or another that moves with the target, glowing with the intensity of a large candle.

LEVEL 2
Blind - Scatter the light before a target's eyes, blinding them for the briefest of moments.

LEVEL 3
Paint – Create a two dimensional image on a surface, no more than 4 square feet in area. Incredibly complex images are unlikely to be very convincing. Can go over small cracks and the like.

LEVEL 4
Sunbeam - Release an intense beam of sunlight from your hand. Will cause a painful sunburn on exposed skin. Range is approximately 40'.

Primal:

LEVEL 1:
Minor Telekinesis - You can manipulate any unattended object in sight that weighs at most 5lb, or push/pull any target with just enough force to lift 5lb. Capable of fine and precise movements. If the object is later grabbed this spell does not end (if maintained).

Shield - Raise your hand, palm out, to generate a barely visible construct of applied force, circular with a 1ft radius, in the air inches from your palm. Acts as a suspended shield, modifier 1. It is frozen in place until you stop maintaining it or recast it elsewhere (is not a summon).

Foothold - The next step you take meets equal upward force, allowing that step to land on a surface level with the last step you took, granting you an extra step or two over open air or liquid.

LEVEL 2
Tip - Generate short force constructs on your fingertips, be they claws, thick cushions, or any other short tool-like shape.

LEVEL 3
Skein - Generate a paper-thin layer of force over your body. It is not strong enough to protect from slashes or blows but does prevent actual physical contact.

Well, first off: I changed grand opening bonus to +350/2 minors. So +100g!

That said:

Hammer Space: Please give this a different name Udo. Tongue
Other than that, I suppose this is okay.

Shaded Eye: This is fine.

Piercing Sacrament: I think this is allowable, a bit on the strong side (not counting the third ability, since that doesn't actually make it stronger) however. I also feel like noting to anyone reading this that I created that weapon on a different site. Wink

Wanderer's Suit: This might be incredibly strong, somewhat strong, or not that powerful. Are you going for how it worked on the original Kage?

B.O.S.S: Summons are a lot weaker in AS than they were in nEW, I think Vengeance would be an incredibly powerful ability in AS.

Some changes here:
> Vortexes: This is mostly fluff now, so that's fine.
> Loyal/Homebound: Could be added later on.
> Kaia's Backstory: Currently references the BoK trials. I am fine with that existing in AS (in some form or another), but some tweaking is definitely needed here.
> Hrm, will we allow Haunted as a single minor? I'd really rather it count as two, as the extra power should be stronger than a single minor (350g value).

Perhaps we could drop Wanderer's Suit (or just specify it is only capable of minor tweaks - not that useful for disguises), have B.O.S.S. be two minors, and the tweak the vengeance power? I'm thinking of her having a weaker form (Like a Nebula Dream Sprite), but it being at will (takes a post or two to recover from being dispersed though) and 1/encounter magic-suction (as before) that grants some sort of extra benefit. Perhaps she becomes fully solid for 10 posts and.. hrm... something else. Anything in particular you'd like?

Name changed, swords redone to be combined...wondering if this is better, suit I intended to be very nerfed. Just a set of clothes that basically means he always has appropriate clothes. Reworded. Removed Extra Runes from BOSS, Nerfed the summon I think. Not sure if it is what you were thinking. The backstory I will leave to you, as you wrote it in the first place and I don't want to mess the feel of it. Description fixed.

Okay, after we've fixed some rune information >.>, Dream is 75g. We aren't going to be allowing trading gold for minors-you-can't-buy, but Wanderer's Suit is basically the dream rune power on a bodysuit [in some ways a little stronger, in other ways a little weaker], so just drop 75g and you can have that without it counting as a minor.

I see you combined the weapons together.

That brings us to 5 minors:
> Shaded Eye: Fine
> Deep Pockets: Fine
> B.O.S.S: Definitely Counts as 3 minors, is really strong. At least, if the Haunted ability was tweaked to be at the power level I feel it should be at for a Master Rune.

...Alright, change up the gold for the suit, and change B.O.S.S. to this:

    Doesn't have the magic suction any more, difficult to make that work with the rest as one power, but I know you weren't a stickler on that and the new bonus power is a quite a bit stronger (The summon won't ever be wading through combat taking out foes on single-handily but it'll surely be very noticeable 4 runes in).

    I'll think about her backstory, but since that's on me I could approve the PC with the changes I suggested.
