RE: The Barons' Game - Nathaniel - 07-13-2018 "Hold on, what!? What do you mean? You're a wolf shifter, albeit a rather large one at that." Nathan said, sounding confused at Heulen's question. RE: The Barons' Game - Agnes - 07-13-2018 Agnes had wandered over to where the discussion had turned to Heulen's appearance. "Not a normal wolf, certainly. Sometimes stranger spirits choose a shifter." she said, as if it were an academic concept. RE: The Barons' Game - Nathaniel - 07-13-2018 "Hmm, you may be right. I've never seen a wolf shifter as large as him before, and half of my village are wolf shifters." Nathan contemplates on what Heulen's type of shifter could be for a minute. Then, he comes up with an idea. "Ah! You could be one of those rare shifters my teacher told me about. I was told that those shifters occur so infrequently because the spirits themselves are quite different than others. Because of this, they find a hard time fusing with normal shifter children. Most of those who do fuse with them either have some Fey blood running though them, or have been affected by Fey Rings." Nathaniel said, becoming increasingly excited as he talks. "I don't have any idea the specific kind of shifter you are, but I think that my teacher would. She has learned a lot in her long life, so that could help you." RE: The Barons' Game - Jebidiah - 07-14-2018 "Well, Nathaniel, I would recommend a town just outside of Tiburon. It's about a day walk south east of the main gates. They have a lovely little bistro that overlooks the water. If your missions lend you some time after, perhaps I could show it to you. I love sharing experiences throughout the world, whether in story, in memory, or in creating a new piece on my canvas." He spoke in a cheerful tone between bites of food. RE: The Barons' Game - Heulen - 07-14-2018 "From what I was able to learn from some of the people that would talk to me in the mountains, I had gathered that I was apparently a shifter, and as you both have stated, bonded with some sort of wolf. It's just that I don't remember much about how I ended up bonded with this spirit. I barely remembered my name when I woke up." Heulen finishes his food. "I might need to speak with you teacher, if that's possible Nathaniel?" RE: The Barons' Game - Nathaniel - 07-14-2018 "Yeah, it's possible. But just so you know, she won't tell you that information for free." He remembers the price he had to pay to become her student. He had to become her 'assistant', which meant that he was essentially her errand boy, house keeper, gardener, and doer of whatever task she asked for. RE: The Barons' Game - Darby - 07-19-2018 "There's got to be some kind of information inflation around here. Maybe I should be investing in secrets. Keep my lips sealed until I'm ready to retire..." Darby, full of vegetables and meats of various sorts, put his feet up on the table, clattering his plates about carelessly as he digested and contemplated his future plans. "I take back what I said earlier about my future plans. I hate left, and don't want any of you to know what I might be up to." RE: The Barons' Game - Heulen - 07-20-2018 "I'm sure I can work out a deal that's worth it to the both of us if she's willing to help me." Heulen finishes his mead and then laughs at Darby's words. RE: The Barons' Game - Magikeeper - 07-27-2018 The Past The bar master returned the handshake and used a little more storm magic to covertly whisper his side of the bargain. "The Desmarais family consists of eight children, of which Hadrian is the youngest. The seventh child and only one close in age to Hadrian, Aluin Desmarais, is said to be on a business trip to Delvena. What I've heard.. is that he vanished a month ago. Never arrived where he was supposed to be. The Baron Desmarais and what elder siblings are available have been covertly giving their all to find Aluin, leaving Hadrian to mange the games by himself." The bar master narrowed his eyes "From all he's pulled these past few days.. well, one must wonder if Hadrian was expecting to be managing the games this time around.." The master noticed another customer coming to the table, and nodded towards Darby one last time before going about his business. The Present Several dozen minutes pass without much fanfare. At some point the waiter came to ask about their many delicious deserts and the possibility of such sweets finding their way into the stomachs of certain patrons. The sweets, too, had ample time to be savored as the group waited for Arielle and her companions to arrive. They had not yet come through the door, but from the sounds of things there was certainly a great deal of commotion coming from outside... "-you will be. I've already picked out a ring~" came the first voice, a slick, oily number with a hint of firmness behind it. "Have you, now? Perhaps you can get it inscribed to commemorate your defeat! "In Memory of Monsieur Hadrian's Hopes and Dreams". responded the second, a proud, fiery tone with a bit of an airy feel to it. "Do nobles use rings for that sort of thing? I suppose keeping it close at hand would serve as a reminder without making it too much of a spectacle." The third tone was simply solid and serviceable. The speaker continued. "That's exactly the sort of subtle grace you'd expect from them, now that I think of it! That said, that said - getting the ring ahead of time's a rather interesting choice, isn't it?" "Most unusual, but Hadrain's never let that stop him! The proud and solid voices shared a laugh. "FANCY WORDS COMING.. coming from someone that doesn't even have a team!" The oily snake voice proceeded to have a laugh of its own, a wicked cackling soon joined by a chorus of like-minded fellows. RE: The Barons' Game - Agnes - 07-27-2018 Agnes, who had moved over near the door to hear better, cackled. It was a loud, broken noise, more like a bird call than a chuckle but still recognisable as laughter. |
