Mora Lucentra - Mora - 01-12-2016

Mora Lucentra
Race: shifter (Wolf)
Gender: female
Age: 21
Height: 5'7''
Weight:
Strength: Average
Physical Description (Human Form):  A pale skinned woman with amethyst eyes and long white hair. Has a beautiful velvety voice.
Physical Description (Hybrid Form): Mora's hybrid form is a fully anthropomorphic, white-haired wolf.
Apparel: Mora wears a black dress that contours to her hourglassed form with half of the skirt torn off in an earlier rage (so many trips. ;.; ).
Backstory:
Parents killed by mysterious trained wolf pack, raised by a regular wolf pack, got lost chasing the trained wolf pack many years later, found a town for the first time, learned the basics, ended up alone in Tiburon because her guide had to rush back. She seeks the owner of the trained wolfs, because his wolfs attacked a member of her pack (she doesn't know his possible connection to her parent's death).
(Mora doesn't know her history except being with the wolves) When Mora was four years old her parents were attacked by a mysterious group of trained wolves. The target was her mother; her father fought them off but both he and Mora's mother were fatally wounded in the process. A group of regular wolves arrived shortly thereafter, expecting to protect their territory but instead finding the orphaned child. Mora doesn't really remember that day - her head was hit pretty hard during the struggle and the violence was likewise rendered a blur. What she does remember is how the Marble Pack* cared for her, and the 16 years she spent living with them deep in the forest. A little less than a month ago Mora saw a group of iron-collared wolves attack a member of her pack. She attempted to trail the wolves, not knowing their connection to her past, but got lost and wound up in a town for the first time. Townsfolk gave her some clothes and told her that owner of that pack - nasty guy - only came up north in the winter (no, that doesn't make sense to them either) and had already headed down south to Ballena. The townsfolk tried to talk her out of heading south - since she clearly didn't know much about the world - only for her insist. One of the townsfolk traveled with her to the city, but something came up and they had to head back immediately. Mora decided to stay behind. This left her alone in the capital of Tiburon, looking for a guy name "Salvencha" that might have already traveled farther south. Which is where her tale begins.
*The wolves' territory had a lot of marble in it. Okay, not that much marble. But it stood out to young Mora.

The Story Of Mora:

Affiliations and Contacts: Optional

Skills and Abilities

Aspect: Warrior Prodigy
Leveled Talent: Rush-down - 0/5 BP
lvl 0. Unleashing explosive force is ill-advised for those who tire easily - novices of Rush-Down diligently build up their endurance before moving on to more difficult maneuvers. Mora is no exception, and thus possess the equivalent of endurance training.

Aspect: Storm Called
Leveled Talent: Sky Song - Mora possess a powerful bond to the world around her, tuning her ears towards a majestic living song that is unheard by others.
Lvl 0. There is a song only Mora can hear, one that is always playing. It changes fairly often – although some part of her identifies it as a singular being –, its tune constantly comforting and supporting you. Pain and emotional effects have a lessened effect on Mora.
Lvl 1. The song is not wholly about Mora - by studying its underlying patterns she can discern information regarding regional weather and even predict oncoming storms, droughts, etc.
Lvl 2. Mora can empower the song with her own spirit, allowing others to hear it and making it anything from very soft to painfully loud. This effect takes a spell per post to use/maintain.
Lvl 3. The song can infuse a bit of itself into the sounds Mora makes, giving them a more melodious quality and allowing them to echo for hundreds of feet should you will it.
Lvl 4. Mora may cause the song to powerfully manifest at a point within sight, the noise becoming louder and louder until finally exploding outward at the end of her next post; the sonic boom has a radius of 10' and hits with the strength of a Mighty shove. This effect takes a spell per post to begin the effect.

Howl Reader: Due to her unusual upbringing, and her connection to the her Song, Mora has developed the ability to "hear" what wolves are trying to convey to her as though they were speaking. Likewise, wolves naturally understand whatever she says. In both cases this translation is through the power of the Sky Song - it does not actually give wolves the ability to speak / fully understand other humans.

Spells
Storm
Lvl 1 - Drift - Thicken the air beneath you just enough that if you are falling it slows your decent and allows for a soft landing.
Lvl 2 - Listen - Increase the sensitivity of the air around you, magnifying any sounds you hear.
Lvl 3 - Charged Grasp - Rapidly vibrate the air around your hands to generate a field of damaging electricity around them. Electricity will channel into any metal weapons you are holding.
Lvl 4 - Blowback - Create a spiraling whirlwind around one of your hands that amplify the force of your next blow by two strength levels (average -> very strong) and spread out the force (turning a punch into a shove). If the hit creature/object is rendered airborn the winds might spin it around for a post as well.

Weapons and Armor
The Fang of the Wolf:  A sharp medium sized silver dagger with three red marks painted on each side. The hilt can grow up to 3' in both directions (average strength force, about as fast as a swift jab), transforming the dagger into a spear with marks in the middle (maximum length 6') and back again whenever Mora desires it. The spear's blade becomes as tough as steel while so transformed.

Other Magical Possessions
Calling Stone - A small opalescent stone with a perfectly shaped hole carved through its center. During an event, Mora may channel the wind through the stone to create a low whistling call that reaches the ears of a creature or creatures she has recently encountered or knows very well. So long as that creature is within 100', is not antagonistic to Mora, and is not more loyal to another sapient creature, it will travel towards Mora at a reasonable speed. How it reacts upon reaching Mora will depend on the creature and the situation and will be determined by the event runner.
<ul><li> Creatures of small size and minimal impact can instead be controlled by Nakaiye but do not obey Mora IC (be sensible).</li>
<li>Due to their close bond, Luceundi may be called by this effect from dozens of miles away, and will always run to Mora's side (or move briskly, if the journey is a long one).</li></ul>

Other Mundane Possessions
The Wolf's Fang sheathing case: A sheathing case that's made of deer fur and thread. Has a small pocket on one side for the Calling Stone.

Bag of Essentials: A bag containing basic living things like soap, her gold, etc. Most of the gold actually came from her mother's belongings, like the other the calling stone, but Mora doesn't know that.

Pets
A black wolf named Luceundi. Luceundi possesses recuperative abilities far greater than a regular animal (healing in hours what would normally take weeks), and his aging appears to be far slower than normal for a wolf - he's as old as Mora and none the worse for wear!

Gold: 100

(If something is wrong, please tell me. I'm a bit scatter-brained today)

RE: Mora Lucentra - Udo - 01-13-2016

Hello Nakaiya!

While I am not staff, I can help you get some of the basics set for them to look over. Edit: Thanks Udo. I've gone over things more thoroughly in the next post. - Magikeeper

First, your spells are incorrect. You need to specify which spells you have purchased, not which arts. You should also mention which level your LT is and not just its name. Just see my post, I detail the spell situation pretty thoroughly, I think. -MK

Second, it seems you are missing quite a lot of gold, and it doesn't really reflect on your sheet as to where you spent it. Handled next post - MK

Third, I don't think the wolf pet will be allowed, unless it is a small wolf. Mostly because it falls into the category of something others will want to murder because it is a threat. It'd be allowed, but it would be important to remember that wolf VS armed human in a 1-on-1 fight might not end well for the human but it almost certainly won't end well for the wolf. Mora's wolf has something else going on though. I talk about in more detail in my post. - MK

Fourth, I know the summoning stone won't be allowed. It is too powerful. There are no summoning effects that powerful on site. A suggestion would be to combine it with your pet. Make it so you can summon a wolf for short periods of time. Or something along those lines. Ah, that is a reasonable suggestion. I give a few more suggestions in my post, and describe why the stone is so powerful in greater detail (mostly because the ability is vague). - MK

Fifth, everyone gets 5 minors during the grand opening. Basically a minor is an ability/item that is unique or slightly strong/cool. See the other characters for ideas of what they are. Or ask and we can help you figure some out. By the looks of it, the only thing that would qualify is the stone, but it is too strong. Wolf would qualify too. But at this point I suggest just working out the wolf/stone stuff and then seeing how many minors you have left - powerful stuff can count as more than one minor (stone as-is is still too strong though). - MK

Any questions feel free to ask here or in cbox Smile

RE: Mora Lucentra - Magikeeper - 01-13-2016

Alright then! I have a few questions/comments/etc:

1) What is Mora's shifter form? I'm guessing her animal spirit is wolf, but her hybrid form could be anything from full anthropomorphic (sounds like that is the case) to just having ears and a tail or something.

2) Being raised by wolves is fine, although... what situation would result in wolves both A) Attacking people and B) Caring for a child? Wolves normally don't attack people, and if they were starving or otherwise prone to attacking people I don't see how a child would survive. The exact backstory also left me wondering who completed the operation, since both her parents died while she was being born?

How about Mora lost her family when she was very young rather than when she was born, and whatever killed them was not the same wolf pack that raised her? That solves a lot of issues, and she could still lack memories of her original family.

3) Spells - Hrm. With spells, each spell is learned individually. You need to learn at least one first level spell of art X to be able to learn any of the second level spells of art X.
I'm going to make this easier - since you're Storm Called storm spells only cost you 30gxlevel each. Thanks to the grand opening bonus you start with 400g instead of 200, so you could by a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th level storm spell and still have enough left over for a vital spell. I suggest having the storm spells, so just look through the list below and pick 1 spell of each level:
LEVEL 1
Spark - Release a small arc of your bodily electricity from your fingertip. It’s enough to startle and cause brief pain, as well at ignite highly flammable materials.
Drift - Thicken the air beneath you just enough that if you are falling it slows your decent and allows for a soft landing.
Whisper - While speaking in a whisper, you can manipulate the air to carry it to the ear of anyone within your sight.
LEVEL 2
Channel - Aid electricity in passing though you, granting you protection from electrical charges and allowing you to redirect the blast. Usable once every five posts.
Listen - Increase the sensitivity of the air around you, magnifying any sounds you hear.
Deafen - Completely still the air around a target's ears preventing any sound from reaching them. Use will rarely go unnoticed.
LEVEL 3
Charged Grasp - Rapidly vibrate the air around your hands to generate a field of damaging electricity around them. Electricity will channel into any metal weapons you are holding.
Modulate - Manipulate the air coming out of your mouth to alter the sound of your voice, possibly mimicking entirely different sounds. No louder than a lion's roar.
Gust - With a thrust of your palm, channel the air into a gust of wind that will push back your target several feet or stop their forward momentum.
LEVEL 4
Ball Lightning - Form an empty sphere of whirling winds the size of a softball. These winds generate an increasingly powerful electrical charge within the sphere. This sphere can be propelled with air pressure, dispersing on impact releasing a blast of electricity. Can be maintained for up to two posts, the size of the blast increasing with each post so spent.
Thunderous Champion - Your skin and weapons crackle with electricity. Your hair is constantly blown upwards by a spiraling updraft that boosts your jumping ability. Your voice is loud and booming. You cannot cast or maintain other spells or summonings as long as you maintain this effect and for a post afterwards.
Blowback - Create a spiraling whirlwind around one of your hands that amplify the force of your next blow by two strength levels (average -> very strong) and spread out the force (turning a punch into a shove). If the hit creature/object is rendered airborn the winds might spin it around for a post as well.

EDIT: I changed Blowblack while looking over the spells. It missed the final rounds of spell edits somehow.

This would also mean Mora would start with levels 0-4 of Sky Song.

SKY SONG - Mora possess a powerful bond to the world around her, tuning her ears towards a majestic living song that is unheard by others.

She also has level 0 of rush-down.
lvl 0. Unleashing explosive force is ill-advised for those who tire easily - novices of Rush-Down diligently build up their endurance before moving on to more difficult maneuvers. Mora is no exception, and thus possess the equivalent of endurance training.

3) Summoning Stone: How exactly do you imagine this working? As written it is.. very vague. "I can technically summon hoards of elephants at will. Or whales, sure, why not whales?" vague. It definitely needs to be more precise.

Do you imagine it creating summons (in which case I would suggest choosing an animal/type of animal and an amount and working from there balance-wise, or even give it a few specific options), or do you imagine it calling local animals to your location (which would also require some very precise rules, but different from the above)?

4) It is technically possible for a singular magical animal to have developed the ability to talk. It'd be nearly unique, as that being uncommon is an understatement. I would greatly prefer, however, if Mora instead had the ability to understand wolves (who were just as smart as ordinary wolves), and her pet wolf didn't actually have the ability to talk. She just naturally understands what they are trying to convey to her in a manner that, to her, takes the form of "hearing them talk". I feel like if someone starts with a talking animal, we will soon be up to our ears in talking animal pets and that really doesn't make sense in the setting.

So, my suggestion is:
Howl Reader: Due to her unusual upbringing, and her connection to the her Song, Mora has developed the ability to "hear" what wolves are trying to convey to her as though they were speaking. Likewise, wolves naturally understand whatever she says. In both cases this translation is through the power of the Sky Song - it does not actually give wolves the ability to speak / fully understand other humans.

--

On another note, do you plan on having the wolf pet fight? If so, it might be the good idea to give it some kind of ability or magic collar or whatever that aids in combat. Or I could suggest one, whatever you prefer. This somewhat depends on how strong the summoning stone ends up being.

RE: Mora Lucentra - Mora - 01-13-2016

Thank you for the advice guys. Here's what I have to say/correct about my application

Magikeeper~ <b>1.</b> Her form (i guess) would be full anthropomorphic

<b>2.</b> (I guess I should've put her history in better detail! XD) Yeah, I like the way you told it better. That does make more sense. BTW, do I have to edit my original post or make another post with all the corrections?

<b>3. Spells</b> Yeah...I am <b><i>very</b></i> lost there. I guess out of the storm spells <b>Level 1~Drift, Level 2~Listen, Level 3~Charged Grasp, & Level 4~ BlowBack.</b>

<b>3. Stone</b> The stone can only call up to 2->5 forest or city-bound animals ranging from diseased rats to young bears. Nothing bigger, nothing stronger, nothing other than animals found in further areas than the cities or forests. So...animals to her loation. *But, it's still a bit iffy if that's a keep or not*

<b>4.</b> You have very good ideas! I'm gonna go with that as well!! BTW, she will only have one that will only fight when it feels Mora upset as in threatened or disturbed. (I was thinking one of her upbringing siblings. ;D)

Sorry if the enter thingy isn't working. I'm in class and my laptop is very crappy. DX

RE: Mora Lucentra - Magikeeper - 01-13-2016

> Editing your post is the way to go there. I can do the copy-paste stuff though.
Edit: I have copy pasted the spells. the LT levels, and Howl Reader. I also fixed the gold total - you could start with a 1st level vital spell (40g) or do something else with that. I removed "talking" from the wolf description as well (I did assume he/she was a family member of hers. ;D). Does the wolf have a name? Also, Mora's backstory still needs to be changed.

--------

I am currently pondering the summoning Calling Stone.

For the wolf, I would still suggest it have some sort of ability. I suppose we could just go with faster than normal healing? I suggested that to another player as well, I.. yeah, I'm okay with faster than normal healing being one of the more common traits of small aurora-touched animals. I should note that in the help documents... both "having a wolf" and "having a wolf that heals in a day what would normally take weeks" would counts as just 1 minor. (So 1 minor for wolf, 1 minor for Howl Reader, 3 minors left to work something out with the stone.).

RE: Mora Lucentra - Mora - 01-13-2016

Thank you. I shall work on her history, the wolf's name is Luceundi, the healing fast ability I like Wink, and the stone....Eh, it isn't a biggie, so don't hurt your head about it. ;D

THANKS!!!

RE: Mora Lucentra - Magikeeper - 01-14-2016

I think you're still working on it, but looking at what you're going for I have a suggestion:

Since Mora effectively understands wolves in a way that, to her, sounds like speak, her referring to the packs by name makes sense enough. But why "iron pack"? At first I thought that was a strange name for a wolf-wolf reference to translate too but.. what if the iron pack had iron collars? So her family was killed by a group using trained wolves (or dogs even), and the wolf reference translated to her as "iron" because she knew that word and they were referring to the shiny metal thing they all had.

---

On another note, I felt I should ask how you intend to RP the Howling Reader ability. There are generally three-ish ways to go about it, I suppose:

1) The Lassie Route: Basically, you (the player) describe Luceundi's actions, expressions, animal noises, etc, and Mora just understands whatever it means IC.
2) The Other Route: Basically, you put the translation Mora hears in a way that is formatted to clearly make it look different from regular speech, since only Mora hears it as that. This method is more likely to confuse other people.
3) Mixed: Usually do (1), but if it would be difficult to explain what is going on in her post Mora could describe the wolf's action and use <The different from normal speech>

RE: Mora Lucentra - Mora - 01-14-2016

Luceudi shall be roleplayed by the "Lassie Route".

To be honest I just picked a random name, but I like that idea as well! 83

RE: Mora Lucentra - Magikeeper - 01-15-2016

On a semi-random note: Given how long wolves live, Luceudi's power must have also slowed down his/her aging. Well, not must, he/she could just be old.

DAK came up with a suggestion for the summoning stone. A few slight edits later:

Calling Stone
- A small opalescent stone with a perfectly shaped hole carved through its center. During an event, Mora may channel the wind through the stone to create a low whistling call that reaches the ears of a creature or creatures she has recently encountered or knows very well. So long as that creature is within 100', is not antagonistic to Mora, and is not more loyal to someone else, it will travel towards Mora at a reasonable speed. How it reacts upon reaching Mora will depend on the creature and the situation and will be determined by the event runner.
<ul><li> Creatures of small size and minimal impact can instead be controlled by Nakaiye but do not obey Mora IC (be sensible).</li>
<li>Due to their close bond, Luceudi may be called by this effect from dozens of miles away, and will always run to Mora's side (or move briskly, if the journey is a long one).</li></ul>

I'd count the above as.. hrm.. 1.5 minors?

------------

Say, what prompted Mora to leave her home deep in the middle of nowhere? Also, I can only imagine her first year out of the woods (21 years old, was with wolves until she was 20, so she's already spent a year traveling?) was an interesting one, what happened there? Did she just find a small town that helped her get her bearings (but then, why would she leave that town)?

Also, is something like this what you're looking for backstory-wise [minus the last year or so]? I was iffy about suggesting backstory stuff. since this is your character (don't want to seem pushy or anything), but I think the following pretty much just expands on what you wrote:
She only saw the Iron Pack** one more time, and has thankfully not seen them since.
*The wolves' territory had a lot of marble in it.  Okay, not that much marble. But it stood out to young Mora.
**The trained wolves wore metal collars.

RE: Mora Lucentra - Mora - 01-15-2016

Does "Magi" mean "Awesome idea" in some language? You're not being pushy at all! You're just putting amazing ideas out there!

I LOVE IT ALL!!!!!!!!
