Cassie had been wondering if the pair should sit together, so they could guard each other's flanks, or spread out so it was less obvious they were in a conspiracy. But Havarti seemed to know more about the event so she decided to just play along. She could also understand why he'd put himself between her and the guy on the right side - Havarti was nice like that!
The man on the right side, impeccably dressed right down to his fancy buttons, was currently wiping his forehead with a handkerchief embroidered to a degree that it would draw one's attention without seeming too gaudy. Even his custom chair was gorgeous, the girl currently studying him lacking the knowledge to realize just how much effort must have went into making a wheeled seat that'd fit perfectly in all manners of fancy balls and dinners. The man was sweating profusely, granted, but that was surely just because he weighed over 600 pounds. Cassie was pretty sure of that, she'd seen a 500lb man before and Mr. Buttons definitely had more chins. The most important part of the man, however.. were his eyes. He had the eyes of a killer, no doubt about that. Cassie hoped all social-lights weren't like Mr. Buttons! There wouldn't be any bodies left for her!
The remaining diner, sitting to the left of Cassie, was a lil' old lady with just the sweetest little bag. Cassie didn't have a grandmother herself, but she'd learned about them from some townspeople and this lady was definitely someone's doting grandmother. The grandma, for her part, had been glaring daggers at Mr. Buttons when Cassie and Havarti had first walked into the room. Her countenance had softened considerably since then, however, and she even looked concerned for some reason. She was staring at Cassie's face?
