Which turned out to be the right direction, so the crew doesn't interfere with Darby's steering.
In anycase, the addition of speed control makes bringing in the boat a simple enough matter. Dalton's boat is back in port just in time for those gathered to see the man himself racing across the harbor on a small, extremely swift sail boat. They also see how the speedy ship is almost immediately distracted with the arduous task of avoiding the large vessels that had entered the harbor earlier. Hopefully Dalton will realize the situation has already been dealt with..
Back on shore, four men run up to the docked boat. All of them are dressed in town guard uniforms - the crumbs on the tallest of the four's beard is explanation enough of why they weren't at their posts. "What is going on here?! We heard a boat was stolen?"
