[Tiburon][U] The Claiborne Estate
#31
The valet led Jones through the small room where a group of people were gathered.

One was a grey furred, transformed, wolf shifter. He was dressed in rags and carrying a small hand sledge.

One was a teenage girl with dirty blonde hair and bandages wrapped around her hands. She was otherwise dressed like your average common girl off the streets of Tiburon. Slightly dirtied cotton shirt, canvas trousers, cheap belt.

One was a fairly ordinary looking young man who's eyes couldn't seem to stay still. When Jones looked at this man, something in the back of his head screamed 'lizard man'.

One was a human shaped lump of flesh that looked like it had been rolled in discarded shellfish.

"Hmm. Demon possessed wolf shifter globalist. Demon possessed teenage girl. Demon possessed lizard man. Demon possessed crab person, probably of a secret race that ruled Avarka hundreds of years ago and will gladly rise again in a heartbeat to take back what was once theirs the moment us HUMANS show ANY WEAKNESS."

"Hello there. I am here to fight and win to EXPOSE the ... uhh, myself to great fortune."

Jones moved to sit near the demon possessed teenage girl.

Dinner Party

"I'm Cassie! Have you dinner battled before?" Cassie copies Havarti's bow. She heard people sometimes do that before fights!

This was going to be a hard match, but papa would tell her to "Imagine. Observe. Learn. Understand. Reject. Improve." or.. or was she supposed to learn mul- didn't matter, what DID matter was that you should learn what people do and why they do them! Then ignore everything and do your own stuff! Or.. wait, no, that wasn't it...

...um...

She missed papa already.

THE BATTLE

Yack continued to stand facing the wall. This was fine.

Within earshot of all the other competitors, of course.

Fen showed up at the estate and uneasily eyed the door. He knew that the chances of seeing someone who knew him at an event like this were certainly high. "To hell with it, need trumps comfort." He grimaced as he knocked in what he imagined was a bold manner on the manner door.

The wolf man glanced down at his top, looked incredibly embarrassed and excused himself with a cough. As he left through the door they had entered by, Havarti could swear he heard a rather colourful phrase escape his lips.

"Havarti, charmed. My name is Dorothy. What brings you to Lady Claiborne's little dinner party today." she began to ask before Cassie asked her, possibly better question. "Well, young lady. In my youth I definitely battled over dinner, but this is new to me."

The fat man coughed.

Antechamber

The (probably not) demon possessed young lady gave Jones a side eye as he sat down next to her. After a moment of consideration she nodded and let out a grunt.

Front Door

The door swung open to reveal everyone's favourite surprisingly armed valet.

"May I be of assistance?" he asked coolly.

Havarti ignored the colorful comment and smiles again at Cassie, he thought it was cute that she mimicked him. Dorothy was certainly a name for someone's dear grandmother. "I am here hoping Lady Claiborne may be able to help me find someone very dear to me... What about you madam? What brings you to this table tonight? I would love to hear about your tales of dueling over food sometime. It sounds like fun. And you sir, I apologize I did not catch your name." He turned to the round man as he spoke.

Fen hardly noticed the sword that the doorman was wearing as it only made sense to have an armed doorman if one was inviting people like himself to into their home. He let out a friendly chuckle and responded in a mischievous tone. "Well I'd say that depends on two things. One being if I'm arrived at the right sort of place to find myself compensated for punching another man until he falls gently asleep. And two being whether you can direct me to a drink on the way."

Mr Buttons. "Floren Hargrave."

Colour blind elf. "Prisma."

"And I believe the shifter fellow was Lyor. I'm hoping for a useful relationship, extending past the ball." added Dorothy.

Door

"I shall have some water brought out to the competitors, as for compensation, that depends on your performance." the valet gestured inwards.

Fen responded jokingly with a wink as he walked through the door. "I can't say that's the first time someone has said that to me." He was suddenly quite glad he had secreted a flask on him somewhere. He glanced around at the lavish home. "I don't suppose the lady of the house has called for any fights to be of the death match variety tonight?" He doubted it but you never know with "nobles."

Jones looked over at the girl next to him.

"You and me? We're the only humans in this mess. We can't show any weakness tonight, or the enemy wins."

He went for a solidarity fist bump.
