[Tiburon] [U] The Sunken Barrel Tavern
#61
Kage reaches into his Deep Pockets, pulls out his crowbar, places it under the axe and flings it into the water. Then he moves over to the dying man, tries to grab him by the neck and throw his corpse onto any flames that spread to the deck as he puts the crowbar away and sheaths his dagger on a belt his suit creates.

Ryker was impressed by the display. Kage was no stranger to combat, and it would seem he could be far more cunning and ruthless than Ryker had originally supposed. He looked forward to their mission together, eager to see just how skilled Kage is.

OOC: Okay, I've been convinced that should actually work.

On the Boat

Yep. Fire goes out. Either by the body, or Kaia just stamping it out (since her form is not particularly flammable).

---------------------
Back at the Docks

One of the old men smugly holds his hand out to the other."Didn't make it a week." The other man passes a few silver into the first's hand, grumbling all the while.

That done, Kage grabs the body, makes sure he is dead, then shoves any possessions on it, including clothes, into his Deep Pockets. Then he takes the body, drags it over to the edge, and throws him overboard. Turning to look at his situation, he realizes he is on a boat, with only the knowledge that it moves by spinning the wheel to aid him. He looks to Kaia and asks, "Don't suppose you know how to work a boat, more than spin the wheel?" even as he moves to the helm. Once there, he grabs the wheel and turns it towards shore. Not sure how to actually do it, he ended up over steering, almost falling over when the boat tilted a lot, then making it much less of a turn. It finally seemed to be on a path pointed back towards where he jumped off. He really hoped someone there knew how to stop this thing.

Kaia had likewise asked him a question of her own. "Kage, do you know how to... oh."

"...crap."

The smokey fairy flies about 10' up, frantically pantomiming the pair's lack of nautical expertise.

Damn...
"Dalton! Garza! How does that boat work?"
Ryker began to move towards the nearby unoccupied sail boat.

For her part, Lilly had slipped her feet over the edge of the dock and dropped into a seated position when Kage had engaged the ill-fated crimson bandit. She allowed her legs to swing back and forth as she watched the display. Once the bandit went down Lilly cupped her hands around her mouth and yelled to the boat.

"Nice kill! Now stop the boat!"

Darby wasn't totally sold on wanting to go on this job. There are more reliable ways to make some gold after all. Plus, some red flags rose when Dalton and Garza had a disagreement, and his potential coworkers exhibited worrisome behavior. Watching kage dispatch the nameless bandit restored a portion of Darby's confidence. At least there would be one person going along who knows how to take a job seriously. It wasn't until the fire was out that Darby realized kage doesn't know how to sail. Making a snap decision, Darby decided to commit to this job, because he needed the money, and hey, it might be easy after all. There probably isn't a water hunting dragon on that island.

Darby took a running start, ran off the dock toward the ship, cast foothold for a little extra distance, leapt, and probably fell short of the boat.

While Darby might have fallen short, Kage had seen his running start. He put the wheel back to a central position, he hoped, and moved to the side of the ship to grab at one of the anchor lines. When Darby jumped, Kage tossed the rope towards him, with what little aid Kaia could give to keep the line on a straight path. Maybe he would catch it and help save Kage from circling until the winds died.

2 minutes before Darby Jumped, Because I'm Assuming He Waited Until His Jump Was Sane
OOC: Assuming the promised round of drinks was paid for by.. someone. A drunk Garza, perhaps.

Ryker had reached the unoccupied boat. Unfortunately, there was a bit of a crowd behind him. Namely, the hatchet man and the other card-players from the bar with Gentle John in the rear. They must have heard the ruckus and come out. Hatchet does not look happy. "Hey! You better be running to the other ship!"

"Ah, come on Wally, the boat's out of control. They did apologize." Several members of the group nod in agreement with John.

"With beer. The best apology." adds another member of the collective, a plain-looking elf still holding his cup.
