[Tiburon] [U] The Sunken Barrel Tavern
#91
Moving closer to the boat as it pulls up reveals the speaker to be a middle-aged man with prematurely grey hair, a friendly grin on his face, and sharkskin clothes. "Hello there! I'd stand up, but this boat wasn't designed to handle two people. I'm Casanov!" He meekly waves at the group (although the cautious motion could be confused with him rubbing his leg).

"And why would we want to stay at your place? Not to mention, why are you here?" Kage asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Exactly what I'd like to know."

Lilly gestured to Kage from her perch on the edge of the dock. She wasn't exactly well known but had thought it best to keep her head down while the guard were sniffing around.

"What are you doing here, mystery man?"

"I told him I needed his boat to hunt a thief" answers Dalton. The hunter steps onto the dock with a shrug "Turned out that wasn't the case but it seemed a good idea at the time."

Casanov continues laying in the boat "I've known Dalton quite awhile, worked with him a few times, y'know how it is. He was in a real hurry so I just told him to hop on! Heh, and there you have it. You all can do what you want, I just figured you might want to avoid camping out on the peninsula overnight on your way to the island."

Kage shrugged. He hadn't really been paying attention to the names of who was involved. He would probably start soon as it seemed like this job would actually get started. "Sounds good enough to me. You may want to wash your deck a bit, some aftermath remains there."

Lilly's legs continued to swing back and forth as she waited for all the boats to line up with each other and everyone to disembark.

"Is your place pretty big? I'm picky about my sleeping arrangements."

Ryker jumped back onto shore, handing John the ropes to his sailboat.

"Well done Kage, impressive swordsmanship. As for sleeping arrangements, I'm perfectly happy to accept your offer."

Darby helped the ships dock safely, mimicking the actions that sailors he met had done once. When he tossed a rope at the dock column thingy by totally misnamed it, that probably gave it away that he was clueless.

"Well, here's hoping I'm better at shipwreck investigation than shipwreck prevention."

"Allright then! My place isn't that far from here, and it's pretty big!

John ties the last ship to the dock, and handles Darby's rope as well.  He makes a sympathetic nod towards the mercenary. "Happens to everyone, now and then.  See you around." John waves goodby to the group and heads into the bar.

A sudden "GAH!" rings out as Dalton discovers what Kage is talking about.  "Did you have to paint the deck with him?! I.. psh.. I suppose any stains will at least make for a good story. What happened with this boy, anyway?"
Reply
"Could you be more specific? If you mean why are his insides painting your deck, it is because he wouldn't listen to the request to get off the boat. If you mean how they are on your deck, it is because I remove obstacles from my way." Kage asked with a non pulsed face. It would seem violence wasn't really his preference, but he wasn't afraid of it.
