The remaining keys all fit, after testing them all, and he is able to create the same pattern from outside. He puts them all in place, and the safe door pops open.

Baron immediately pulls it further open and reaches to pull out the contents of the safe.

His shadow rushed away from him and settled under the box wanting to make sure it was safe before Hayze approached, lifted the box and opened it.

Baron - inside is a large stack of papers. It could reasonably be assumed this was what he was here for. He couldn't be sure though, because they are all written in that same nonsensical combination of words. You get the idea itsprobably a cipher of some sort.
Hayze - the shadow found nothing strange about it. Inside, was a note that said "Good job, now get lost. You drew too much heat for my business plans to succeed right now. You did some work, so here's something for your troubles." Underneath the note was a pile of 20 gold pieces. (Will add them to your account after you say you take them.)

Adequately satisfied, Hayze pocketed the gold and the note. He then left the gazebo and began his trek out of town. The note reminded him he could have people after him so he again stuck to the shadows and headed north.

Baron pocketed the papers and pulled out a fresh sheet and a quill. He quickly scrawled 'The Order Watches, With Interest' on the parchment and then drew a triskelion surrounded by nine stars.
Happy he had successfully obfuscated the purpose of the theft, Baron headed for the front door.

Hayze does hear the commotion of guards in the direction of the shop. It seems someone informed someone who cared. He otherwise makes it out clean.
Baron leaves his distraction, and as he moves to leave, he feels like he is forgetting something. But can't quite put his finger on what at the moment as he hesitates before opening the front door.

Baron didn't like that feeling, so he quickly went over what he had done. He came in through the cellar, went through the desk down the- the desk. The desk in the cellar had a set of papers with symbols that matched the documents he'd taken. There was a good chance they either were the cypher or would aid in determining it. Baron turned on his heel and headed for the cellar instead of opening the door.
As he walked he spared another moment to feel for minds in the area.

As he turned to pass back through the house, he passed by the office where he rotated the desk to reveal the secrets on his way to basement.
While scanning for minds, there was roughly the same amount in the area as before. No one at present seemed to be approaching the house. As he got down there the drawer had apparently stopped bubbling. The liquid seems to have retracted back into the drawer to be a reset to the trap. Inside the drawer are still the papers. Something else nibbled at his mind. Charlie had asked him for something more.

Baron collected the additional papers and then smacked himself in the face. Charlie hadn't wanted obfuscation, he needed the mark not to know they were missing.
Well, Baron could delay that by more carefully hiding his actions. It didn't take him long to reverse the key turns, hide up the safe and rotate the desk. After that it was a matter of leaving through the cellar. If his mark came down here he would undoubtedly find things amiss anyway, so Baron did feel the need to replace the lock. He did however, scatter some debris back over the door to hide its absence. After a quick check of the minds in the area, Baron grudgingly hopped the fence again. |
