Querida Wydberg
#1
Question
Why yes, I commision Eldrik to help me decide what PCs look like. ^.^ I should commission one for Cassie/Yack though, and fork over the cash for a Querida's shifter form pic..
Name: Querida Wydberg (Original name Olivia Palanoma)
Race: Shifter (Tardigrade)
Age: 37
[b]Height:
5’8”
Strength: Below Average
Appearance: See Picture! Querida is a moderately fit (but not Adventurer Fit™) woman with has pale, clear, faintly blue-tinted skin, pale blue eyes whose irises tend to change shape (a bit like rippling water {Glacier LT}), and black hair a bit longer than waist-length. Her shadow has a tendency to not be looking in the same direction she is.
Querida is virtually never in her shifter form, but when she does her body changes fairly dramatically. Her shifter form is bulky, looking more like someone wearing a protective suit of grey and <OOC: space/hazmat suit-like?> skin . Her face dramatically changes as well – looking more like a mask with a circular breathing apparatus than an actual face. Her hands become stubs with three thick finger-tendrils sticking out, each as long as normal hand but not particularly dexterous.
Apparel: Querida wears a simple, buttoned beige shirt, blue trousers, and unremarkable brown shoes. Pretty much whatever she could get on the cheap. She also has a thick brown cloak and a burlap sack.
Backstory: There was a time, not too long ago, when the Palanomas were the primary criminal enterprise in the tiny coastal town of Anchoa. The town flew the Ballena flag, and was one of the northmost towns to do so, but it was to the Palanoma family the inhabitants owed their fealty. Not a purse was snatched without the say-so of the Palanoma, and more than a few pirates treated the secluded town as a second home. With this in mind, their support of the Old Family plot was such a given that no one – on either side of the war – even bothered to ask them. Thus it was with great surprise that the Palanoma found themselves wanted by the Ballena navy for the crime of treason. It was less of a surprise that their estranged cousin Diego had offered to help the navy hunt them down, nor that he’d convinced them to make a show of the executions.

These thoughts, and numerous others, flittered through Querida’s mind as she and the rock they’d bound her to sank to the bottom of the bay. Her role in the family, among her numerous siblings and cousins, had simply been inventory management. Oh, sure, there were times she’d fantasized about heading off for a life of adventure, but compared with the simple pleasures of calculating profit margins and having the free time to do as she liked.. well.. the simple life had always won. Which saved her that day, because it meant Diego, a rough man that had never been involved in such boring matters, had no idea that she was capable of breathing underwater. Or even what she looked liked – the Palanoma family had many members, and between her suppressing her aspect and a very quick “inspection” of the Palanoma’s collection of fine magical wigs meant that the Olivia that met her demise in the cold waters surrounding Anchoa looked remarkably different from the woman that finally crawled out of the waters some weeks later.

Well. Guess it was time to live that life of adventure.

The Story of Querida:
Affiliations
> PC: None
> NPC: Town of Anchoa

Abilities

Already Executed: Querida has no outstanding warrants for her capture and execution, thank you very much.

No contacts: Unfortunately, remaining confirmed* dead means Querida has and will continue to avoid trying to see if any of her family’s contacts are still alive. Maybe she’ll check back in a few decades. *Querida played dead for about a day after the execution.

Accountant Fit – The average adventurer is, compared to the general populace, pretty fit. Querida is a more typical specimen, clocking in at Below Average compared to her newfound peers. [-.5 minor]

Tardigrade Shifter: Querida’s shifter form is bulky, looking more like someone wearing a protective suit of grey and {space/hazmat suit-like?} skin . Her face dramatically changes as well – looking more like a mask with a circular breathing apparatus than an actual face. Her hands become stubs with three thick finger-tendrils sticking out, each as long as normal hand but not particularly dexterous.
> While in this form Querida does not heal naturally and lumbers about at around 1/3 the speed she did before. On the other hand while so changed she can breathe underwater, dehydrate herself to enter a state of stasis, and is incredibly resistant to heat, cold, atmospheric pressure changes, toxic gas, vacuum, etc. Her form offers zero protection from physical force / cutting/etc, but environmental dangers are generally of little concern in her transformed state. [2.5 Minors? Given overlap with Glacier, and that she could just buy water breathing for 90g since she’s already using water magic?]
The Palanomas were almost entirely human – Querida’s shifter heritage comes from her mother. Querida has never seen her spirit animal; some old writings her mother had claimed a past member of her family – one born with incredible visionary powers – had confirmed it was actually very common, just too small to see normally.

Aspect: Water Born
GLACIER - Your attunement to water magics passively alters your body, plumbing your inner depths and turning you into an embodiment of cold perfection. You can suppress some or all of these changes whenever you desire, although you cannot cast spells while doing so.
Lvl 0. Your skin is cold to the touch, and your internal organs do not freeze. In fact, cold temperatures do not bother you at all.
Lvl 1. Your skin becomes pale and clear. You can freely control whether your skin/tongue/etc sticks to ice or not. You can freely extend this effect to your worn and carried non-living possessions.
Lvl 2. Your irises become pale blue and constantly change shape. Your sense of smell becomes much more acute.
Lvl 3. Your skin tints blue and becomes painfully cold to the touch. By inhaling deeply and exhaling, you can release a 5' long gout of obscuring snow from your mouth (2 gallon's worth) that slowly freezes water and frosts objects. This snow falls to the ground normally once breathed out.

Aspect: Umbral Soul
SHADOWTWIN - Your affinity for umbral magics has granted your shadow its own sentience. As familiarity with darkness increases, your shadow becomes much much more.
Lvl 0. You have never cast any shadow except for your "true shadow", a shadow which always exists - no matter how bright or how dark it is - and cannot be illuminated. This shadow has a mind and senses of its own, and moves of its own will. Although it has a mind and personality of its own its life is tied to yours, thus making your well being is its top concern. Querida's shadow is goes by the name Eiz, a fairly mellow and extremely introverted being that generally pretends to be a regular shadow. She's also a bit of a hoarder and enjoys looting more than is probably entirely healthy.
Lvl 1. Your shadow can separate itself from you, traveling across any kind of surface. It may flow back to its regular – attached – location in an instant, and does so automatically if any part of it would travel farther than 50ft from your person.
Lvl 2. You and your shadow may communicate telepathically with each other. Furthermore, while two dimensional, your shadow may change its size and/or shape at will. Max triple size, min half size. If it would gain a third dimension any changes in shape and size are reverted back to their initial state.
Lvl 3. While attached to you, your shadow may reverse the connection between you and it; controlling part or all of your body like a puppet. This is not telekinesis, and any movements made have to be physically possible for your body to perform. If you and your shadow move as one your strength is effectively increased by a level. You may resist your shadow’s control if you so desire.

Silver Ice – Querida can manipulate how transparent the ice she or her possessions create via abilities and/or spells is – anything from completely clear to completely reflective is possible. Reflective silver ice is vulnerable to projectiles made of light, however, and shatters shortly after reflecting any such effects that do not originate from Querida or her possessions. Furthermore, Querida can substitute silver ice for any glass she or her possessions summon/creates. [2 minors]

If you ever need a helping hand, you'll find one at the end of your arm - Querida is a near endless treasure trove of bureaucratic and general life skills. While others were fighting bandits and kicking down doors Querida was... filing papers, refurbishing stolen boats, cooking, clearing out insect infestations, sowing, managing the finances of a criminal enterprise, etc, etc. (1.5 Minors, this includes her appraisal skills detailed below)

Appraisal - The ability to evaluate and qualify items.
Lvl 1. Able to estimate the standard gold value of most items that are worth enough to care about.
Lvl 2. Able to estimate the properties of an object at a glance (magical, material type, etc)

Spells
Water
Level 1 – Filter -- Wave your hand over up to a gallon of water to remove any minor impurities from it. Cannot undo potions, effect would be unpredictable.
Level 2 – Soak -- Draw moisture from the air to soak a target in water.[/i]
Level 3 – Flow -- Passive. You can control and shape up to a gallon of liquid water/ gallon's worth of mist/snow at a time as though it were an extension of yourself. Control is limited to sight and guided by hand and arm movements. 2 gallons due to Aspect.

Umbral
Level 1 – Lantern -- Create a floating ball of light before yourself or another that moves with the target, glowing with the intensity of a large candle.
Level 2 – Blind -- Scatter the light before a target's eyes, blinding them for the briefest of moments.[/i]
Level 3 – Paint -- Create a two dimensional image on a surface, no more than 4 square feet in area. Incredibly complex images are unlikely to be very convincing. Can go over small cracks and the like.

Weapons
Old and Rusty = An iron dagger Querida found on the ocean's floor. It is as it is named.

Non-Weapon Magic Items

Other Non-Magical Gear
Pile of Basic Living Essentials in Querida’s Bag: Querida found a surprising amount of treasure during her treck across the ocean floor. Nothing amazing, but enough to pawn for food, water, clothes, and other basic necessities. She left the wig on the ocean floor, however; the chance of that being traced back to her was just too high.

Gold: 40g
