Trip to Slant Rock Isle [Past]
Having nothing to do but maintain his eye, he did. Ad when he saw something he shared it with Lilly as promised.

He watched as Castor spoke and then left. He debated following. The pay would be good. But, he knew he was under equipped to deal with an entire island of pirates. So he simply gave a wave at his retreating form.

Besides. He still had to get paid for this job.

Darby was conflicted. On one hand, he was young, easily distracted, not-too-recently-poor, and had nowhere to go. Of course he'd jump on an opportunity to find a hidden treasure that only murderous scumbags lay claim to, then murder those scumbags and lay claim to it. On the other hand, the future was calling for Darby to pass through the fairy world and wake up an undetermined time later with a magic hangover. Ehhh, the future can wait.

"Yeah, I'm in. I'll come help you stab some pirates or whatnot for no guarantee of pay. We'll need a satchel. Maybe some large hiking backpacks. Or a wheelbarrow. You know, for the treasure."

And so Darby and Castor set off into the woods, possibly or possibly not winding up lost in the fey realm for an indeterminate amount of time before ending up elsewhere. One thing was certain however - the two of them eventually got their hands on the gold owed to them for completing the mission. Eventually.

The rest of the group returned to Tiburon in the middle of the night, allowing them the joy of sleeping in the shark-memorabilia filled warehouse twice. Night turned to day, and the group soon found themselves back at the inn where it all began.

"...and that's how we got these rings." concluded Dalton, as he motioned towards the pile between himself and the group's employer. Garza reached out and felt one of the accessories, tears forming in his eyes. "Wonderful... simply wonderful.. you also have the general location of the sunken ship?"

Dalton sighed "Yes, but I must repeat that you shouldn't send anyone to find the sunken ship until that dragon's dealt with."

Garza laughed "I'm sure the navy will have a way to search that area. If not now, then in a few years. I'll.. take care of the pirate related matters from here. Dalton squinted at that last bit, but if Garza noticed he wasn't showing it. "You've proved my boy right! That's the important part. As for payment, it shall be as we just discussed."

Each PC gets 50g and 30LP worth of the options below:

1lp - 5 Gold

2lp Casanov's Guide To Sharks - A booklet containing anything anyone would ever need to know about the sharks inhabiting the spoke-wheel peninsula, or just sharks in general when you get right down to it. Also contains detailed sections on the various currents, prey species, ocean depth levels, etc. Those are the sections that might, say, be of general use to the non-shark enthusiast.

4lp, Limit 3/Person Drake Garb - Piece of clothing or other item made from the feathers / leather of one of the larger drakes slain at Slant-Rock, courtesy of Dalton. The clothing is faintly magical, water resistant, and possesses a weak water-magic effect based on its design.

5lp, Limit 1 per Person Mapwood Ring - By focusing some of your magic into the ring you can sense the distance and direction between yourself and the last spot it was used. Distance sense is initially vague (+/- 5 kilometers), margin of error is halved for each thread it is used in. Each ring is currently set to either the previous location of Orl Island, Slantrock Isle, or the plot of ocean where the pirate's ship sank.

10lp, 2 Available, Limit 1/Person Drakebone Item - An item or weapon made from the bones of the Slant-Rock Drakes. Modifier 1, extremely resistant to cold, repairs itself quickly while submerged in water, and possesses a snow or ice-related ability based upon its design powered by the wielder's spells per post.

20lp, 1/person Garza Good - Garza's picked up more than a few random magic curios picked up over the years, and would be happy to substitute some of them for the gold he's rather short of at the moment. Choose an art, item type, and any other word to receive a magic item that fits the bill. (Power roughly equivalent to a 2nd-level spell)

Lilith acquired a twin for Old Reliable, a drakebone sap carved with a pattern of waving lines. The pattern was more evocative of tides than heat waves.

Lilith also fished out a necklace, aligned to the water art and the word fire.

Dalton appeared to have some real skill when it came to turning magical beast parts into items, the sap taking the intent to be paired quite well. In it's own way, at least...

Mischievous Youth - A drakebone sap carved with a pattern of waving lines. The pattern was more evocative of tides than heat waves. Modifier 1
Messmaking - By using a spell per post, the wielder may reduce the force both taken and received by the sap by a strength level in order to unleash a massive, weak-strength splash of water in all directions relative to the force of the blow(s). Water created this way lasts until end of encounter, unlike normal water magic. About a gallon for average strength, plus one gallon per level past that.
Weather Prank - Every now and then* the wielder can sense the time is right - by striking a specific target and using Messmaking the effect instead creates an obscuring 30' radius fog that lingers until the end of their next post. *The time is right whenever both of the following are true: The number of words in the first sentence of the target's last post is a multiple of 5 AND the player running the wielder feels like it.
Cold Sea Vigor - The sap repairs itself quickly while submerged and is extremely resistant to cold temperatures.

The charm was one of Garza's more powerful items, as it were, albeit one that was rather hard to re-sell due to how dangerous it was to most would-be wielders..

OilSea Charm - A necklace made from sapphire, ruby, iron, and onyx whose pattern evokes the sense of a wild and oily tide. Modifier 3
Tide Igniter - Water and ice in physical contact with the wielder become a lightly obscuring navy blue, the effect spreading over time as though the wielder had an infinite amount of food coloring gushing out of their body. The water/ice shifts back after a post if no longer in contact with the wielder or farther than 3' from their person. Water effected this way burns like oil, ice affected this way burns like charcoal. Internal ice/water and water fully soaked into things (not by itself / on a surface) is not effected in this way.

Well, you can't just turn down a custom magic item, can you? Darby made off with a belt aligned to the vital art, and the word? One that will assuredly annoy MK with otherwise unnecessary research, Honorificabilitudinitatibus. Have fun!

Whenever Castor made it back to Tiburon between keeping an eye on the Pirates, he met up with Garza to apologize for not coming back with the group and to explain his predicament. Garza seemed more than willing to still pay Castor for his help on the mission. There was an interesting selection of items but he decided to take the gold in their stead. He of course kept the one Mapwood ring he had taken earlier, however.

He grabbed 60 gold, a storm aligned Cape of locomotion, a pair of boots with a wave motif flowing from the toes towards the heel, and a pair of gloves where the water design seemed to recede from the fingers and palms coalescing towards the back of the hands.
