Trip to Slant Rock Isle [Past]
#41
"I do have a small sailing dinghy. It only takes one man to operate but it could hold one or two more. However, 'armored' sounds much better than 'small' when going up against a Dragon. I'm afraid my ship would be similarly placed on the menu as Casanov's." His suggestion to split up was sounding bad as their vessel options were being elaborated upon. If they had three 'Appetizer-Class' ships, then yes, splitting up would make sense for the sake of the job. But one armored vessel would protect all of their lives equally and more effectively. "Perhaps taking the one is our best option after all." He admitted, after some thought.

Diego looked surprised at the offering. "I agree with you, but it might be worthwhile to bring the ship along and dock it at the town nearest the island." The hunter stands up and starts walking towards the crates. "Welp, unless anyone has something to add I think I'm turning in for the night. The lot of us need to set sail bright and early tomorrow if we want to be in and out before nightfall."

Kage agreed and found a place to sleep. He had Kaia watch over him as he slept, in dagger form, to wake him if she feels it is needed.

Castor gave a nod to Dalton as he finished the conversation. He considered briefly stepping outside and sleeping on the dock outside. But he didn't want to be suspicious. He took a glance around as everyone found a place to sleep. The warehouse was made of primarily one large room. There were crates stacked everywhere. He found a spot in the corner, away from Casanov's personal rooms and workspaces, between some crates. He removed his scarves and bunched them up into a pillow against a crate. Lying down, he wrapped his cloak around his body and went to sleep.

OOC: If anything was happening during the night I'd wait, but... there isn't, so I guess we'll move a bit more ahead before pausing until the other folk get some more posts in.

Kaia had mostly agreed, although she might have played around with some of Casanov's things. Whether she stayed in blade form or not, however, she definitely did keep watch throughout the night. She'd likely relax a bit the next morning however; although a spirit, resting from time to time did help her focus her thoughts.

The night passes without incident, although Dalton's wake up call rang out a good hour before the dawn's light so that could yet change...

Kage woke with a yawn and a stretch. He moved towards Dalton. "Anything we need to grab before setting out? If not, let's get started." His yawn returned and he waited for the response.

Castor woke to the sound of Dalton's voice. He hadn't been woken in that manner since he was a child. He could immediately sense that it had not been a full night's sleep. Opening his eyes, he could see that the sun had not even risen yet. No matter. He was used to a variable sleep schedule.

He stood, stretching his back and neck. Clumped pieces of cloth against a crate was not the best bed. He carefully wrapped the strips of cloth around his head and neck before approaching the waking group. He pulled out a small pouch of dried fruit and began gnawing on a piece.

He agreed with the man's sentiments, also anxious to get started. He realized he knew no one's names except for Dalton and Casanov. There hadn't yet been an opportunity. He would have to change that.

Darby, slowly disentangling himself from his swishy cloak, approached Castor.

"My name is Darby, by the way. If you happen to see me falling to my death, or in the jaws of a terrifying lizard, I'd like you to shout it dramatically. Preferably follow it with a dramatic 'nooo' scream. As if you really mean it. I'd like someone to mourn me when I go, even if it's compulsory."

Lilly yawned over Darby's shoulder, twisting her arms around in a series of stretches.

"Should we add 'He was the best of us!' or would you prefer 'The world is poorer for his loss!'?" her tone of voice altered a little during the suggestions but she wasn't exactly selling them.

"I won't be around to nitpick, so use your best judgement. But The World is Poorer has a nice ring, doesn't it?"
