Unaware of Danika's certainty that he and Ian would rush to get back in front of her (though, truly, Ian was the weakest of the party, in Loken's mind), he rushed to do just that. Throwing her a glare for disregarding her safety, he once more took position at the front of the group and walked the path she'd chosen.

He gaped.

He couldn't help it. Scrambling after them both, the sword dangerously swaying in his hand as he did so (how did one walk with this thing in their hand, anyway?), Ian pushed his way after Loken. Admittedly, it would probably be the safest option for him to be in the back. But that would take a wound to his pride and he couldn't just have that. So, here he was, flailing and all, with a dangerous sharp object in hand, what could go wrong?

Everything.

His little tiger robot shadow thing followed after him. No, more like, it pressed itself against his leg and did not help with the whole must scramble to keep up thing. He was certain that it was only going to be a matter of time before he felt flat on his face. He just hoped that it wouldn't result in himself being impaled on sharp objects that were just conveniently being pulled out of strange metal things that had taken a rather weird fixation with him.

The path was as difficult as it looked; unless one wanted to be knee-deep in murk the going was quite slow. Fortunately, the hauling duo had paused for a bit to argue about ways of keeping the prisoners quiet. The more rotund one was the louder of the two, currently arguing that eating one would probably make the others scream more, not less!

The imprisoned sprites, meanwhile, were trying their best to keep the haulers preoccupied. One of the three kept sneaking glances directly towards Danika and her friends, if the other two were doing so as well they were better at hiding it.

Upon closer inspection it became clear that the haulers weren't human either. The front hauler, the more ill-tempered of the two, was a thin doll-man stitched together from various leathers. His clothing looked like someone took a pile of fancy clothes out of a dumpster, dusted them off a bit to remove the obvious crud, and then put them on then and there. His rapier's hilt looked a bit rusted as well. The second hauler, the one currently arguing that they could maybe try to get a song going, looked like someone had then taken the garbage from the aforementioned dumpster, smashed it down into muck-juice, and then poured it into a pile of thick burlap sacks. Then they stitched those together to make some sort of garbage snowman, slapped on some shoddy overalls, and called it a day.

The argument was clearly reaching its conclusion - the faux fancy hauler had heard quite enough! He gripped the cage strongly and did his best to look tough. "FORGET IT, forget it. We don't need all three, two is enough for the glorious me! Let's cook up the next one to say more than ten words. Got it? You vermin? Speak and be curds!" He rattled the cage with a sinister howl, eyeing each captive like a dog chasing fowl.

The shaken fairies huddled together in fear. The doll-monster grinned, his arrogance swelled; he'd made himself clear, that much he could tell!

"Marco, you've -ah- you've started ryhming again." Is the rotund one's only reply. It was a soft response, one combined with a defensive cringe to avoid being hit. Marco clearly isn't pleased by the news that he's come down with another case of rhyming.

Danika and the others were only 30' away at this point.

He caught up easily to his companions and strode forward until he was in the lead. Probably a mistake, honestly, but pride was a terribly thing to have. The sword was still clutched in his hand and he still had no idea what he was supposed to do with it. The reasonable thing would be to drop it but he wasn't actually thinking on that. He was thinking more on what was happening in front of him. They were about thirty feet out now and Ian continued to walk forward. He realized quite quickly that he was walking easier upon his leg but the human male wasn't so certain about that. He came forward, toward the caravan in front of him.

What he saw first was that the haulers were clearly not human. He paused for a second, his hand lifting (the one without the sword) as he stared. Well, he wasn't expecting that. Did Loken somehow know them? He didn't dare to flick his attention back toward the shapeshifter. "Gentle...creatures," greeted Ian, only slightly fumbling over the word. "Whatcha got there?" He ignored the fact that the little tiger thing had followed him, his little shadow something that he was getting used to. Well, for the most part, anyway.

The front hauler turned towards the man with a start! His look was cruel, his look was sharp! He looked ready to tear the intruder apart! But the look was short lived, the anger became cheer, Marco grinned wickedly from ear to ear. "Well well, what do we have here?. Odd to see mortals in.. in.." The creature coughed.

The rotund one grinned towards the taller of the two. "Did it stop? Nothing like a surprise to stop a case of the rhymes!"

"Hrmph." Upon closer inspection one could not miss the thin doll-man's eyes - pools of swirling, possibly literal blood with a little doll button spinning in each vortex.

"Marco, I think we should just focus on the Alomtunder. Tell these mortals where the nearest ring is, skip the usual." The more rotund creature's gaze darted between Marco and Ian. Unlike its companion, the rotund creature's eyes looked more like dried blood crusting a pool of more liquid fair, with broken button bits serving as pupil and iris. If the creature planned on addressing Ian it unfortunately missed it's chance - the captives could speak for themselves just fine. One of them did just that, her words coming out as fast as she could form them.

"We're dream fey, they're dark fey, we can help - HRMP" The first speaker, the sprite that had been noticeably glancing towards Ian and the others, is silenced and gagged by the hands of a second sprite that's probably their sister. If they looked any more alike they'd be twins. The third sprite flashed 9 of his fingers towards the gagged fairy as he continued "Help find ring. Dinyue evil, eat us and mortals."

Marco was clearly about to say something - if Ian let them continue this was probably going to take awhile.
